All woodwind, brass, and percussion players in grades 7-12 are encouraged to audition! Program begins in Fall 2018.

Woodwinds and Brass
Students should prepare material that displays their technical and lyrical abilities. Two separate pieces can be used.
Junior/Senior District audition solos (or the equivalent) are preferred.
Brass players will be asked to demonstrate their ranges.
Scales: Major scales to 3 sharps and 3 flats; 1 octave minimum.
Students will be asked to sight read.
Percussion
Students should prepare a piece that demonstrates their abilities on their primary instrument (snare, timpani, or mallets).
Students may audition for multiple instruments (i.e., snare and mallets, snare and timpani, etc.)
Junior/Senior District audition solos (or the equivalent) are preferred.
Students will be asked to sight read.
Jason Bielik has been Director of Bands for 11 years at North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend, where he teaches/oversees Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Symphony, Jazz Band, Winter Percussion, Winter Color Guard, and the Pit Orchestra. In his time at North Middlesex, his groups have earned gold medals at MICCA and MAJE events and won division titles at NESBA fall and winter events. The Wind Symphony and Concert Band have also participated in the MICCA Gold Medal Showcase numerous times, performing at Mechanics Hall and Symphony Hall. In 2016 the NMRHS Wind Symphony was a featured Concert Hour performer at the MMEA All-State Conference. Prior to teaching at NMRHS, Jason was Band Director for 4 years in Thompson, CT. He has been MMEA Central District Chairperson, MICCA Gold Medal Showcase Coordinator, and currently serves as MICCA Vice President and MICCA Summer Institute Coordinator.
