Full- and half-day summer programs for all ages, levels, and styles. Week-long and multi-week schedules for children and youth. Evening chamber program for adults.

Sinfonia Concert Orchestra: new full orchestra ensemble for select middle and high school students. New Horizons: beginner concert band for adults. Suzuki Method: group and individual violin and guitar instruction for ages 4+


10am: Summer Music Explorers (Ages 5-9) - Presenter: Mark Femino

ACTIVITY-BASED, INTERACTIVE DEMO - Bring the kids to join in the fun of singing, dancing, and playing! Summer Music Explorers is a week-long program in which students learn music basics, try out instruments, and play in a real ensemble by the end of the week. Full- and half-day options available.

11am: Summer Day Music (Ages 8-15) - Presenters: Amy Lee, Tim Terranella

Learn more about this two-week program for all instruments and voice which offers a multitude of opportunities for group learning and ensemble playing. Morning core classes focus on students' main instrument and improving technique and musicianship. Afternoon electives provide lots of options to explore new music styles, instruments, theory, literature and more.

12pm: Summer Jams (Ages 10-14) - Presenter: Mark Femino

INTERACTIVE DEMO: Bring your axe and play some tunes! Students learn the give and take of being in a rock band, working out songs together, taking the lead and being a supporting player, and exploring different rock and pop styles. In addition to band rehearsals, workshops and classes will provide expert advice on sound and recording equipment.

12pm: Chamber Music Intensive (Ages 14-College) - Presenter: Amy Lee

INTERACTIVE DEMO: Bring your instrument and play some ensemble literature with like-minded peers. For advanced teen and college-age students who are looking for a more intensive musical experience. Our expert teaching artists will bring your playing to a whole new level through ensemble rehearsals, masterclasses, guided practice sessions and more.

1pm: StageIt! DYI Musical Revue (Ages 8-15) - Presenter: Sue Bonito

INTERACTIVE DEMO: Get ready to sing, dance, and enjoy the spotlight! Being part of a musical cast is great fun, but how about creating your own show? Using pop songs and Broadway tunes as the foundation, create a plot, write the lines, add dance and staging, and voila! You did it yourself! A fun and thoroughly interactive way to learn about the theater from the inside out.

2pm: Summer Night Music (Adults) - Presenter: Tim Terranella

INTERACTIVE DEMO: Bring your instrument and play through a sampling of Baroque ensemble literature with your peers. Meet fellow adult musicians and make music together. Expert coaching in a relaxed atmosphere makes this one of our most popular summer programs! Summer Night Music concludes with two performances for all participants.

2pm: IHM Youth Orchestras (Ages 6-18)

Get the details on our comprehensive, leveled large ensemble program for elementary through high school musicians. Groups include Chamber Strings for developing string players, Camerata for intermediate to advanced level strings, and Sinfonia Concert Orchestra for advanced string, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. 3pm: New Horizons Band (Adults)

CONCERT DEMO AND Q&A: Members of the Porthsmouth NH New Horizons Band will show us how it's done! This nationwide program for adults offers a low stress, high enjoyment pathway into the world of music making in a group. This program is for those who played a band instrument back in school, and those who wish they had. Absolute beginners welcome!

4pm: Suzuki Method Violin, Guitar (Ages 4+) - Presenter: Bethany Stephan

Get the scoop on this time-honored, highly acclaimed method for learning violin and guitar for children as young as 4 years old. Certified Suzuki Method teachers guide students into music in the same way that children learn language - with loving encouragement, constant repetition, demonstration, and parental involvement.
